Grammatically, when you have two japanese words with a letter K squeezed like in this combination word, the K becomes and is pronounced with a (G) sound. Combining the two words into one, therefore, instead of Kusari Kama the resulting new word would be Kusarigama. In the classical time, the two kanji would be written the same way, although pronounced differently. All japanese second "K-words" are treated likewise.
